Biography
Ray Brown is certified by the State Bar of California as a specialist in Civil Trial Advocacy. Ray has been admitted to practice law in California for more than 30 years. In that time, he has never lost a jury trial as lead counsel. Ray also has 14 published appellate decisions in California appellate courts, the California Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Three of his most significant trial results were a $2.1 Million verdict against the City of Huntington Beach for the shooting death of an 18-year-old man, a $4.2 Million verdict against the County of Orange regarding the murder of a 5-year-old girl and a judgment for $4.3 Million regarding a dispute over the ownership of a landmark Orange County family business, the El Toro market in Santa Ana. Ray is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell (the highest possible rating in terms of legal abilities and ethical standards), has been named a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters and was invited to join the prestigious Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Ray ran for Superior Court Judge in 2022, at which time the Orange County Bar Association rated him “exceptionally well qualified” for judicial office, defined as “possessing qualities and attributes considered to be of remarkable or extraordinary superiority so that, without genuine doubt, such person is deemed to be fit to perform the judicial function with distinction.” Ray is licensed to practice law in Arizona, California, Washington and Oregon.
